Sugar and Iced (A Cupcake Bakery Mystery #6) by Jenn McKinlay

 Rating: 4/5 🌟

I can say that, although this book had some dry moments, I really did like it.

Of course, I love the characters! And although they all had their funny moments, Marty gave me the biggest kick in this book! His sarcasm and come backs were hilarious to me; but hey, maybe that's because I'm extremely sarcastic and if done right, it's quite funny. I'm not talking being overly mean, but just enough bite to get your point across. Although, if pushed, I can't say I always blame people taking it a little further if need be and nothing else us working!

But, I've gone on a bit of a ramble again!

When you think there's some changes about to come, the old side peaks it's head out again. But, where would this series be without some pokes from some characters along the way! 😏

This book has ended on a pretty big cliffhanger, so, I need to find a way to get the last two books (so far) in this series! I want to know what happens!

Of all the cozies I've read, I do believe this is the furthest I've ever made it in any of them! Not because I didn't like many of them, it's just that as I read other books, I had all but forgotten about the other cozies I read. There's one series I started on the Kindle that I think I need to finish; maybe see if they have the physical books, as I am not one who really likes to read on her Kindle like that. I do, but not much, as I prefer physical books more! I do have some ebooks I need to get to though, hopefully soon. (Again, off topic! Lol)

Okay, I think I'm done!  Thanks for stopping by and reading my sometimes off topic thoughts! 😊😊

Going, Going Ganache (A Cupcake Bakery Mystery #5) by Jenn McKinlay

(4.5/5 🌟)

I can say this one was one of the best and the cutest so far. And for this series, that's saying a lot. I love this series. Some books have been better than others, but even my not so favorites were still really cute.

This one also ended on a cliffhanger, but a bit bigger than the last one. I'm glad I don't have to wait the 6 months to a year or more for the next book!

A character from one of the previous books showed up for a scene, which was good. I kind of liked her by the end of that other book.

The book kept me guessing until close to the end. I had a few guesses but all seemed too obvious because either they were buttholes, or, you just think: No, they're too sweet and they're always the type chosen. But I didn't really consider the one who did it.

And as always, there are recipes at the end of this book. One of these days, I'm going to try at least one! Maybe one from each book! And this one was picked perfectly for the season, as it was set in the fall and we're coming up on fall.

Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown

Book (3/5 ⭐)
Audio (3/5 ⭐)

Although the book wasn't horrible, I found myself getting frustrated sometimes. I kept wondering: When will this be over? Do I really want to finish it? Well, it finally ended and evidently I wanted to know what happened, so, I finished it.

I think she is helping to really get me to understand why I tend to stick with YA and why I'm so wary about many adult books now. Although this one wasn't as bad as Envy, she did do the sex scenes. It's not so much that she does them, it's how descriptive she gets. I personally don't need all the detail. I've got two kids, I get it! I know what sex is! Lol...Call me a prude, but it's just a personal thing. Whether it's a book, friend, movie, etc, I don't need graphic detail. But, I know there are others out there that are fine with it and I'm not knocking anyone who doesn't mind it. It's all about preference. I guess that's ONE reason I never read the 50 Shades series (or whatever it was). Don't get me wrong, I read many adult books, but I'm wary of many that I think: Does it have graphic sex? Violence? Etc I love mystery/thriller just not overly graphic/detailed. Hope I'm making myself clear on this. 😊

I like most of the characters well enough. The ones I suspected, she'd shift to another, then shift to another direction right to the end. And that's what I love about Brown's books and why I keep going back. In typical Brown form, she keeps you guessing! I guess I just need to put on my big girl undies and deal with the sex scenes (within reason). As I said, this one wasn't too bad, maybe three scenes. But for me, I just wasn't feeling this one. I kept getting bored and losing interest.

Another Book Order!

Thriftbooks sent me a 10% off email this morning as a birthday 'gift' and I didn't pass it up!

These covers I'm showing, are the covers I ordered, what I get? Who knows?

I still need to get to book 5, but I wanted to get as many of the books in the series as possible (8 out right now)

I saw the original movie when I was younger. I remember liking it well enough, but I was young and I'm not sure if that was a factor in my not really caring either way about it. I may try watching it again in the future. This will be my first time reading it. Guess I'll see what I think when I decide to get to it.

I read book one some time ago and thought it was really cute. I wasn't in a hurry to go on, but knew I wanted to. If I had seen a decent copy, I was willing to pick it up. I just used this opportunity to get one.

Now, on Goodreads, it is marked as a first book in a trilogy/series, but as I scanned over some questions, some were saying that there's actually a book before this one and that one should be read first to make this one less confusing. Sigh. I've Got You Under My Skin is the name of it. So, when I think I am ready to read the Cinderella Murder, I may try to get I've Got You Under My Skin.

All of this book shopping is a Birthday Gift to me! Lol..Rough day, but I made it through and have books to look forward to! :-)

Well, that's it, for now! Hopefully I will get all the covers I picked, or, one better! I am trying to get better at blogging. Maybe one day I'll do more than just book stuff, but I guess I'll need to get used to doing it first, so, why not start with what I'm comfortable with? Thanks to all who read all of this. :-)

Book Outlet Order/Haul + 1 Audible Audio

Did a little book shopping today on Book Outlet & couldn't wait to get them to just share what I bought! And also got one audio!

This is the cover of the physical book that I own. When I looked up the audio for it, I originally wanted to get the free book with .99 audiobook, but I didn't get the narrator I wanted, so audible refunded my money (Thank You Audible). Well, the narrator was more expensive, not too much, so I waited until this morning to buy it! And that narrator, many may know, many may not. Patricia Routledge. Now, for those who don't know who she is, she played in a British Comedy called, Keeping Up Appearances & also a Cozy Mystery show called Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. Now, yes, she has done other things, but those are the two I am familiar with. And I adore her! And I love her voice! Especially what I was able to hear in narration of this book! Actually making me look forward to reading it! Well, listening to it! :-D

Now, my next books, are from Book Outlet:
The next two are the final two books in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and shouldn't need too much explanation! ;-)

(Book 5)

(Book 6)

Now, my personal opinion about the last three books is that she could have left it at a trilogy! And just maybe did a novella about one open ended situation. Not a full book. Then to go onto two more after that! But I am completing these because I want to go onto Magnus Bane, The Infernal Devices and the Shadow Hunter Academy Books (I hope). Which leads me into the next ones I bought.

(Bind up: Magnus Bane Chronicles. Novellas/Short Stories)

I am kind of nervous about these. As much as I like Magnus, I am not quite sure what I am going to think about trying to get through all of the short stories. But, I am hoping I love them. And get to know more about this Handsome Warlock!

The Next 3 Are a trilogy..And it will be obvious what they are by the pictures! It was cheaper for me to buy them individually on Book Outlet, than to buy the box set on Amazon. Although, I would have loved to have them that way..But I still have the beautiful covers..At least I hope that's what I get! LOL...I will try to update if anything changes! ;-)

The Infernal Devices Trilogy:
(Book 1)

(Book 2)

(Book 3)

Now, for those who I have listened to talk about these books, many have loved these more than The Mortal Instruments. And that includes even ones who loved T.M.I. So, I hope I feel the same way!

Now, my final Book Outlet book for this order is:

I have also read:
and
By

And I enjoyed them so much that I said I would try to make it through the rest of her books. And this one was the next one I wanted to read. If/When I finish this one, I will try to go on to Rumble Fish as well. It looks like she has at least a couple more books that I may look into later, maybe!

To look into the summaries of each book just click where it says the title of the books or where it says summary. They should lead you right to them, if not, let me know and I will try to fix them.

If any of the covers are different than the ones I put up, I will try to update it with a picture of the book(s). But, those covers I have, are the covers that were on the website. And I already own Wuthering Heights.

But, as I finish each one, I will more than likely do at least a rating. More than likely, a "review" as well (I like saying MY OPINION more than Review, but I guess it's the same difference huh?!?!) :-)

Okay, I'm done rambling on now. Thanks for reading all of this if you got this far! :-)
